File change in windows XP
Hello,
In Windows 98, you could easily change the file with the name of that file.So film.avi example, you could easily change in a mpeg file film.mpeg
Now, I would like XP a avi into a mpeg but I have no idea how that should be in XP. You can not simply change the name as that in 98 still could.
Can someone tell me how I can change in a avi to mpeg in Windows XP?
Re: File change in windows XP
If you are a Windows XP user and if you are required to change the extension of a file, then your chances of succeeding are very low unless you have some tech knowledge. To do this open Windows Explorer or commonly known as the My Computer and go to the Tools Menu (Alt + t) and then click Folder Options, in the dialog box change to the View tab and look for Hide extensions for known files and uncheck it and click OK.
Now all your files have extensions displayed along with file names so when you want to change a file extension you can just change the 3 letter part after the . (dot) in the file name.
Re: File change in windows XP
Go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Folder Options, display, remove the check mark away from extensions for playback
you see the tree back to the extension and now go to the file you want to change press right mouse button and then change it. :thumbup1:
Re: File change in windows XP
Thank you for help, but i still have a question. I accidentally had my mp3 files as file 'compressed folder' that has changed, but still they are not playing, because that content has become so small, how can I change this ?
Re: File change in windows XP
i think changing a extension is not success. Because avi and mepg is two different file formats that differ there compress codes. so u must need third party software to convert this
