7 minutes to get the login screen for windows XP.
I have windows XP. Well I have some downloaded PDF files on my desktop.
Till last 3 days my PC was working fine but I have noticed that windows is executing wlnotify.dll. I don't know why but me windows is taking 7 minutes to load I mean for the windows login screen user account.
Someone please help me with this.
I don't know what went wrong?
Do anybody know what to do in this case?
Re: 7 minutes to get the login screen for windows XP.
Well I would request you to do a system restore if you are not sure what went wrong. You can roll back your system to 5 days back & i think your problem will get solved.
If you think its happening due to the PDF files that you have downloaded them just scan them with good Anti-virus & save them to some different location.
Re: 7 minutes to get the login screen for windows XP.
Well I checked the system restore option but its turned off so cant roll back my system.
Any other solution?
Do i need to reinstall XP all over again?
Re: 7 minutes to get the login screen for windows XP.
Well I think reinstall should be the last choice first try to clean your system with some good antivirus & spyware or malware cleaner.
USe registry cleaning software like CCleaner etc.
For spyware you can use Spyware blaster, adware, Spyware stop & destroy etc.
I hope this will clean your system.
Re: 7 minutes to get the login screen for windows XP.
Have you run defrag to defrag the MFT and how much RAM do you have, 512Mb plus? Have
you run DocMemory to see if all of the RAM is OK and are all your fans running properly
in a dust free cabinet?
Have you run an on-line anti-virus scan and how about uninstalling and re-installing
your anti-virus/firewall program(s)
Are you using SpyBot S&D, AdAware and SpywareBlaster as we ALL need to do?
Re: 7 minutes to get the login screen for windows XP.
It kind of sounds like there is a program running that is taking a long time to star up. You could try this.
Click Start | Run and type msconfig
In the msconfig window click the Start Up tab
Click the Disable All button.
Click OK
You will be prompted to restart the PC. Once you restart see how fast XP boots up. If it is any faster then we know that one of the programs in your Start Up list is the culprit. From here you can start one program at a time until you find the problem. Naturally you will have to reboot the PC after each box you check.
Re: 7 minutes to get the login screen for windows XP.
Yeah, the reason behind this could be a program running which might be a malicious one.so,perform a boot time scan if you have Avast.
Re: 7 minutes to get the login screen for windows XP.
check processes and see whether they are unknown processes are running... try to stop those and use better virus guard and full scan ur system
