hi,
Viewing a movie from your DVD drive will consume more power than when you play it directly from your hard disk. Before going on a trip, it is better to copy your movies or music to your hard drive and play them from there while on battery mode. Also, if you aren't using a wireless network, then it is a good idea to turn off your wireless adapter. This can be easily done from the Windows Mobility Center. Also, using less USB devices definitely helps saving some battery power.
Go into the battery options and advanced settings:
1. Set the max CPU speed to 25%, minimum to 3%
2. Put the X3100 on max powersave
3. Put the hard drive on hybrid powersave
4. WIFI on max powersave
5. Turn off search and indexing
6. Screen brightness to 1%
Hibernation:
Hibernation saves even more energy because it saves your work to the hard drive and then shuts your computer down almost all the way. Inherently, of course, this means it takes the computer longer to wake up to its normal state, but when everything does come back on, it looks the same as before. To switch your computer to Standby mode manually, click on Start, then on Turn off Computer, then on Standby. To make your computer Hibernate manually, click on Start and Turn off Computer again, but this time hold down the Shift key down afterward. The Standby key switches to “Hibernate.” Click it and your computer will go into Hibernation mode.
Use only good enough quality for content:
Use as low a frame rate as possible in animations.
Avoid unnecessary high image quality – may not look essentially better.
Avoid unnecessary high audio quality – may not sound essentially better.
Use energy-efficient colors.
beeter tips:
- Turn off keypad tones (Settings -> General -> Personalization -> Tones -> Keypad Tones); otherwise every time you push a key, a beep is emitted.
- Turn off automatic WLAN scanning (Settings -> Connection -> Wireless LAN -> Show WLAN availability: Never). It will still perform scans every time you return to the idle screen, or when you select the last line of your idle screen display.
- Turn WLAN trasmit level to the lowest setting, 4mW (Settings -> Connection -> Wireless LAN -> Options -> Advanced Settings -> Continue Anyway?: Yes -> Automatic Configuration: Disabled -> TX power level: 4mW). A lot of people choose higher settings believing that this will give a better WLAN connection; in reality this is not always so. (Devices tend to over-saturate the RF channel, thus actually degrading wireless performance).
- Do not enable automatic checking/retreival of e-mail; close the e-mail client when you are done reading.
Thanks for everyones advice, suggestion that will help me.
:notworthy Good luck.
