Sony Japan is out with the MDR-EX36SC which includes a pair of ear canal earphones along with a protective case which doubles as a speaker. which can double as an external speaker for you to plug whatever sound source you like into. A weird but useful combination. The in-ear Sony MDR-EX36SC has 9-mm drivers. It is available in Japan for about 3700 Yen.
