AMD Phenom940 with ASUS M2N SLI Deluxe ?
Hi
I planned to buy an AMD Phenom early April. I therefore have the choice between X4 9950 or the new 940. You advise me that knowing that I will keep at least a year and a half and I always played with the details at the Max. the 9950 is cheaper but I read it was better to take the 940, and then I'm afraid it aging too fast compared to 940 ...The problem is that the 940 is not part of the list of CPU compatible with my motherboard: M2N SLI Deluxe. Do you think it will be before April?
Thank you in advance for your answers
Re: AMD Phenom940 with ASUS M2N SLI Deluxe ?
Actually the 940 is not compatible (chipset) with your ASUS M2N SLI Deluxe motherboard. unless a BIOS upgrade is put into row.
otherwise the X4 9950 is very good, but obsolete when out of the Phenom 940 II. in all cases of AMD Phenom are strong competitors and very reliable. Less heating, less noisy.

The best solution is to wait by April prices have dropped significantly this particular phenom of the 1st generation that will have to sell the stock and the second generation also because it comes into direct competition with Intel quad core, and Until then your card may be compatible monitors bios.

Actually it is, though not officially supported. In Asus forums many people reportedly run P940 on that board:
