Re: where is Show Desktop Feature in Windows 7
Since Microsoft integrated the Quick Launch toolbar in taskbar in Windows 7, you'll no longer see the old "Show Desktop" icon. But that doesn't mean it has been removed in Windows 7.
Actually the location and look of "Show Desktop" has changed in Windows 7. Now its located at the end of taskbar in form of a small rectangle.
Re: where is Show Desktop Feature in Windows 7
When you move your mouse cursor over it, it hides all running programs windows and shows only windows outlines so that you can peek behind all open windows . Its called "Aero Peek" feature.
When you click on it, it does the same job as the old shortcut used to do. It minimizes all open windows and restores them if you click again.
PS: If you want to disable "Aero Peek" feature so that it doesn't hide open windows when you hover the mouse cursor over it, then you can do it by disabling "Use Desktop Preview" option in Taskbar Properties:

You can access "Show Desktop" option by right-clicking on Taskbar. Its present there. Also you can use "WIN+D" key combination.
Re: where is Show Desktop Feature in Windows 7
Create a new folder anywhere you want. For example you create a folder in E: drive. You can give it any name.
Now paste following code in Notepad and save the file with name "Show Desktop.scf" (including quotes) and the location should be the new folder which you created in 1st step:
Quote:
[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop
Now right-click on taskbar and select "Toolbars -> New Toolbar...".
It'll open Browse dialog box. Select the folder which you created in 1st step and click on "Select folder" button.
It'll immediately add that folder to taskbar.
Now right-click on taskbar and select "Lock the taskbar" to unlock it.
You'll see a placeholder to drag the new toolbar.
Right-click on the toolbar placeholder and uncheck "Show Title" and "Show Text" options.
If you want to increase the icon size, right-click on the toolbar placeholder and enable "View -> Large Icons" option.
Drag-n-drop this toolbar to the left of taskbar.
Now lock the taskbar again and you have the good ol' "Show Desktop" shortcut back in Windows 7.
