GeForce 9800GTX Not Working

i have
Cabinet: Coolmaster 690.
SMPS: Corsair VX450.
Ram: 2 GB Kingston.
Optical: Lite-On DVR-W.
Drive: Seagate sata II 320 GB.
Keyboard and Mouse: Logitec.
Monitor: Samsung T220.
Processor: E7200.
Mobo: Asus P5Q.
VGA: Asus EN9800GTX+
Speakers: Creative Inspire 5.1 with Sound Blaster 5.1.
i tried to update the driver windows won't boot. so i have been running fine with just the driver that comes on the cd.I am experiencing freezing and crashes within the games, Crysis seems to be at the approx same checkpoint areas of the game each time restarted.i can't play videos! Ive tried playing them on media player, real player.
any feedback or help is much appreciated.

Run driver cleaner and reinstall DX. Then reinstall drivers.

PCI-E V1 is fast enough to do 2 videocards even at 8x.
Where do you find the nonsense that it would be slow?
As for a BIOS fix, remember, the 8mbit BIOS isn't official....it's a wonder they have given it for people to help out.
If you want the official support, put the 4mbit BIOS back in.

Tried the latest mobo bios?
Hae had a couple of issue with the EP43-DS3R's and both Ati cards and nVidia cards that use PCI-E 2.0.

I think it may be a damaged slot. Grab a flashlight and have a look at the pins inside the PCI lane, is there any that look damaged? smoke damage/flash damage/small puff of blackness?
Is the 9800 displayed in POST when you boot up?, should come up in the top right hand corner.
