Custom program Icons in the start menu
There are some programs in the start menu list that appear randomly. They changes as the programs are installed or uninstalled. But some of them are not as useful for me. How can I add my custom icons in that list. I mean for the programs that I use frequently, I want those icons to be there on the start menu list.
Re: Custom program Icons in the start menu
Assuming that you are using Windows XP, In case you want to add things that are already in the device, and you know where they are, you can just use the file explorer to "Copy" and "Paste Shortcut" to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs.
Re: Custom program Icons in the start menu
That is rite. But I am using Windows Vista. Does the same procedure applies?
Re: Custom program Icons in the start menu
If you use a program regularly, you can create a shortcut to it by pinning the program icon to the Start menu. Pinned program icons appear on the left side of the Start menu, above the horizontal line.
Right-click the program icon you want to pin to the Start menu, and then click Pin to Start Menu.

I dont think this procedure will be applicable to classic start menu style of Windows Vista, well, I am not sure. You can try it.
Re: Custom program Icons in the start menu
Mine is the classic start menu of Windows Vista. Thank you Jimmy for this tip. I will try this when I'll reach home. If its not working for classic start menu, then I will go for the advanced menu option. But I want that feature.
Thank you.
