Error "Specified authentication package is unknown"
Hi all,
I am running a small workgroup of about 8 pc`s.
Everything works fine but after a while when i try to connect to the centralized mapped network drive, I get an error saying " a specified authentication package is unknown.
I am running ICS from the pc with the mapped drive. But strange enough I can still access the internet from the other pc`s, but can`t access the mapped drive.
Re: specified authentication package is unknown
This issue may occur if the Authentication Packages registry entry is missing in the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa
When you install or remove certain software programs, the programs may remove the Authentication Packages registry entry during the installation or removal process.
If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
To resolve this issue, create the Authentication Packages registry entry by using Registry Editor. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
- In Registry Editor, locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa
- On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Multi-String Value.
- Type Authentication Packages, and then press ENTER.
- Double-click Authentication Packages.
- In the Value data list, type msv1_0, and then click OK.
- Quit Registry Editor.
- Restart the computer.
