Installing Backtrack with Windows

I am a noob, but have experimented with ubuntu and dual booting is easy on it. I have drive C which is windows xp and using the windows xp disk. I made another partition its called drive E which is not formatted and completely empty. How can I install backtrack 3 live Cd on drive E and make it work so when I turn on my computer it shows I can choose to boot xp or backtrack3. I tried installing it before and it only gave me a choice of backtrack and no windows, and it failed to boot saying something about the kernal. Can you guys help me do this properly so it shows both options to boot thanks, also I wiped drive E clean to start from scratch any help would be greatly appreciated.

BackTrack has a long history and was based on many different linux distributions until it is now based on a Slackware linux distribution and the corresponding live-CD scripts by Tomas M. If you mean the guide from www.offensice-security.com, then i didnt follow setting up the partitions, as i did that with partition magic, via windows.

I didnt get any errors during installation.

You might want to use something like GParted to resize your current windows partition. You can make a live CD of it and boot to it to resize the partition.

Before you resize a windows partition you will want to defrag, run disk cleanup, and a chkdsk to make sure everything is in it's place...then you can follow the instructions to resize the partition.

I made the partitions that guy says to make (–> Linux swap (512mb)
–> Ext2 partition (10gig) - i also did the 512 fat32 but i dont think its necessary as i can use it in windws and its empty...).

then i followed this video and installed backtrack on my computer
