How to set up a home network?

I would like to know that, how can i set up a home network? I want to use Cat5e Jacks and i have DSL coming through the phone line in my house. I want to use DSL modem to connect to the internet. Currently i'm using a wireless router for connecting my laptop to internet. Can any one help me out how to set up a home network?

Follow this steps for setting up your home network:-

1) Take stock of your existing hardware.(i.e. Note each computer's location and its hardware, including peripherals such as printers and modems.)

2) If you wish to share an Internet connection using Internet Connection Sharing (ICS), choose which computer will be your ICS host.

3) Decide what type of network technology you wish to use.

4) Make a list of the hardware you need for each computer.

5) Install the network adaptors and install your modem on the ICS host computer.

6) Physically cable the computers together.

7) Switch on all computers, printers and other peripherals.

8) Make sure the ICS host is connected to the Internet.

9) Run the Network Setup Wizard on the ICS host.

10) Run the Network Setup Wizard on the other computers on the network.
