Suddenly outlook has begun to double space new messages, including signature. I use word as the editor, settings remain at single space, etc.
Return emails are single spaced, and I have done nothing to the program, settings, or machine.
Can anyone help with this ridiculous problem?

Sure i will Help you with that Joe Gajda.But can you please brief me a little bit more about issue, so that i can help you out.What i understand from your thread is "That you are getting same mails twice in your mailbox" is this the issue.
Thanks for the reply, but your understanding of the issue is not accurate.
The problem is that when I want to send a new message in outlook, the message opens with everything double spaced, and the font is "ivory" in color, making it difficult to read. I open reveal formatting that confirms that the font is ivory, but it indicates that the spacing is single.
I have changed the settings to the correct settings, but they do not hold for new messages.
Replies to messages behave as they should.

Try This:
Go to Tools - Options - Mail Format, change the message format to Plain Text, apply the change, then change it back to HTML.
OR:
- Use plain text for messages. Plain text will render correctly in any and every email client available.
- Press Enter once, not twice, when composing HTML formatted email.
- Press Shift+Enter twice at the end of a paragraph, rather than pressing Enter twice.
- Just ignore it as an inconstancy in the way various applications handle HTML.
The first option worked!!!!
