MS Project 2007: Calendar months durations
:crybaby:
I've seen some threads but still having problems.
I want to set task durations to calendar months. Say if I set a task duration to 2 months beginning 12/1/09, I want it to end 1/31/09. But no...
I have tried setting work days to 24 hours and work weeks to 7 days and days per month to anything, 28, 30, 31. These all make the end date fall very much short of the end of the second month.
Why is this so complicated? I have a four year project I need to schedule beginning 7/1/10 and need to figure this out quick.
Thanks thanks

As with all task information, you can enter a duration in a Gantt Chart sheet or in the Task Information dialog box. Follow these steps to enter a duration by using the dialog box:
- Double-click a task to display the Task Information dialog box.
- If necessary, click the General tab to display it.
- In the Duration box, use the spinner arrows to increase or decrease the duration.
- If the current duration units aren't appropriate (for example, days when you want hours), type a new duration in the Duration box.
New tasks are created with an estimated duration of one day unless you change the duration. You can use the following abbreviations for various time units:
• m: Minutes
• h: Hours
• d: Days
• w: Weeks
• mo: Months
Don't assume that changing the start and finish dates of a task changes its duration — it doesn't. You have to manually change the duration; if you don't, your project plan will not be what you intend it to be.
- Click OK to accept the duration setting.
