Vista reinstall problem

basically what has happened is that the laptop started up and needed a fresh install of its OS. that worked fine, just left it to do its job. went all the way through until it was trying to start up for the first time.

its stuck on a blue screen with cmd.exe up. it doesnt do anything no keys work or anything! message in teh window is

It sounds like you have trashed the Vista boot loader. First reset the BIOS to default or to the previous settings. Please try this,

• Put the Windows Vista installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer.
• Press a key when you are prompted.
• Select a language, a time, a currency, a keyboard or an input method, and then click Next.
• Click Repair your computer.
• Click the operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next.
• In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Command Prompt.
• Type Bootrec /FixMbr, and then press ENTER
• Type Bootrec /FixBoot, and then press ENTER.
• Type Bootrec /ScanOs, and then press ENTER.
• Type Bootrec /RebuildBcd, and then press ENTER.
• Restart your computer.
