Disable unused fonts entries in Windows Vista
Too many fonts installed can significantly slow the system.
If you uninstall software installed, it is not clear that the uninstaller removes writing policies associated with this program. At the time, you will end up like me with a mess of fonts that are slowing the system.
It is therefore to carry out a Pruning of the folder containing your fonts. But be careful not randomly, because some policies are essential to Windows (see below)
- The fonts are visible in the folder C: \ Windows \ Fonts
- First create a folder on behalf of C: \ Windows \ backup_fonts. Open the Control Panel and click the Fonts
- Drag the folder Fonts_backup TruType fonts that you do not and then delete it in the Fonts folder. And yes because of the move in the backup folder "Fonts_backup" unfortunately does not automatically deletes the original folder!
- In case of trouble, and you have a backup and you just have to drag back into the Fonts folder to restore it.
Warning! Do touch that type of system fonts or OpenType TruType. OpenType fonts are essential to Windows such as Arial, Calibri, Courier, Times New Roman, Lucida, Tahoma, Symbol.
