How to use 3D effects in a movie
Hi Techies,
I hope everyone must have watched a 3D movie atleast once, wherein you have to wear the 3D glasses to watch it with full effects.
Currently i am making a short movie where i need to put the same effects i.e something coming towards the camera using Maya so that i can use 3d glasses to make it look like it's popping out at me.
Looking forward to your help.

I think you should go for 3D Stereoscopic since it is needed while making 3D effects and also heard that MAYA 2009 has support for it.
It has the stereoscopic camera setup so this should hopefully help you in what you are looking for.

Out of standard 'Red Green' or 'Red Blue' Glasses if you are using any one then just set up the Stereo camera, it should render two sets of the same scene. Then use Aftereffect (if you have it, i am sure other programs have similar features) i think there is a option to convert the two sets of frames into stereo 3d.
I also tried this with 3D Shutter glasses and the effect was very impressive because i could control the zoom, focus etc..

The Red Green job can be done using a plugin too.I had a brief look at it , as it was one of the best tips in the MAYA Killer Tips book! But never got round to giving it a go.
The book is available in the market and it constitutes of 1/2 paragraph short tips fro modeling, lighting, rendering and also scripting.
