How to disable the CD-ROM autorun function in Windows XP?
Can any one explain me how to disable the CD-ROM autorun ? I am having the problem, whenever I insert any CD into the drive, it starts automatically with out asking me. This irritates me very much. I know there is a method to disable this function but don't know how to do this. So I need your help.

Just follow the below steps:
- Right-click on the drive icon for your CD drive, CD recorder, or DVD drive, and select "Properties".
- Choose the AutoPlay tab, and choose the desired action for each type of CD. For example, choose Music CD, then click Select an action to perform, then select Take no action.

AutoRun is the program that enables automatic launching of the CD-ROM. Below is a tips of how to disable the AutoRun. You just have to modify the specific key in the registry.
- Go to Start Menu and select Run.
- Then type "regedit" and scroll to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/CDRom
To deactivate autorun: Autorun = 0
To activate autorun: Autorun = 1
- Restart your computer.
