I formatted my computer a week ago, but everything went in vain because it is running very slowly especially when I'm on net!
System config:
Motherboard: ASUS P5K
Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce 8600 GTS
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 2.33 GHz
RAM: 4 GB (recognized as 3.25 GB only)
OS: Windows XP SP2

Are you sure 3.25 GB of Ram is being recognized by Windows XP SP2? If so than that is not at all normal.
Yes I know it is not normal for a 32 bit OS but what should I do?
Try to install the service pack 3 and make updates to your operating system.

Try to look what is draining your computer, just see if there is a process that is eating the processor.
For this you do a CTRL + ALT + DELETE (you will see the Task Manager) with your keyboard: Look in the "performance" if your processor has a normal workload (ie if you do nothing special on your computer, besides surfing then it should be 0 and 5% of use).
If you see an abnormal activity from your processor, again follow the same to see what process draws the maximum CPU usage.
