Microsoft Office and Windows Vista and a Sony Vaio
Hi,
Would be very greatful for any help as stuck with an install. Relatively computer literate but not working in the field
I have a new vaio and I am having great difficulty getting any software to install office.
I uninstalled the office 2007 trial when i recieved the machine. Uploaded office 97 as I had an upgrade standard version of office. Then tried to upload my 2003 version. I could put the key in but would not start the install.
Then when i went back to 1997 i was getting the erorr message that not enough memory to run the programme.
I have read a few threads and tried a few thing. Tried to remove everything and start again. Got rid of everything with a Microsoft office prefix by taking it off the programmes list from control panle, using install clean up, and from installer file of windows. However i have 97 activation assistant and setup in the start menu and the old school 1997 install wizrd freezes if i try to remove any remainig component.
I now have a full student teachers version of office in addition to other version.
Basically i would like to get any version to work. Preferably 2003, if not i take the 2007 version for 60 days as away from home and stuff i need to do on the laptop ASAP. Or even 1997 would be fine.
Any help would be great as have come to the end of the line. Is this a case of a little knowledge is a dangerous thing?
Cheers
Crispin
Re: Microsoft Office and Windows Vista and a Sony Vaio
When you are working on your computer and installing a new program, the installation suddenly fails. Now you are left with a partly installed program. You try to install the program again, but you are unsuccessful. Or, maybe you have problems trying to remove an old program because the installation files are corrupted.
Do not worry. Windows Installer CleanUp Utility might be able to help. You can use the utility to remove installation information for programs that were installed by using Windows Installer. Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.
Download Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
We have updated Windows Installer CleanUp Utility. This version of Windows Installer CleanUp Utility works correctly in all 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Microsoft Windows. If you have an earlier version installed on your computer, we recommend that you download and install this latest version.
You must be logged on to Windows with a user account that is a computer administrator to run Windows Installer CleanUp Utility. For more information about how to install and run Windows Installer CleanUp Utility, see the "More Information" section.
