Outlook 2003 cannot receive emails

Its been about 2 years I was successfully using Cox email account with Outlook 2003, there was no problem. But don’t know what went wrong two days ago, I’m no more able to receive any email in my Outlook inbox. For confirmation I went online and verified my Cox account. There were emails coming to my inbox but it is not reaching to Outlook. So the problem is in Outlook itself.

I tried sending mails, it sends fine but cannot receive. This is the error I’m getting:

Task 'pop.west.cox.net - Receiving' reported error (0X80042108). Unable to connect to your incoming (POP3) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message contact your server administrator or ISP."

Any help please?

We have the exact same problem. Except we get no error message. Cox claims its outlook.

I had this problem couple of months ago. After searching lot and applying several settings I wasn’t able to fix it. Finally I called up my ISP and told him about the issue. He found that the number '0x80042108' had a Norton Firewall message with it. I upgraded Norton and the problem was fixed. So are you too using Norton products on your system? If yes, you will need to work on it.

I appreciated your help friend. I think you were right. I ran the Norton Live Update' and it loaded new email scanners today. Everything is working fine like before. Thank you.
