Windows XP crashes with error message
I am trying to turn on my portable computer but I receive an error:
Windows could not start because the following file is missing WINDOWS/SYSYEM32/CONFIG/SYSTEM
You can try to repair this file by starting Windows XP Setup with the CD ROM...
but when I put the CD ROM this message reappears.
How do I solve this problem?
Re: Windows XP crashes with error message
Boot from the CD to repair the Windows installation. For this, you need to start your computer with the CD in the drive and when the message "press a button to start the installation" appears you have to press a button.
If you do not see this message, then you need to configure your BIOS to your CD Boot.
Re: Windows XP crashes with error message
OK, after reinstallation of windows again new error message:
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or damaged
C:/WINDOWS/SYSTEM32/CONFIG/SYSTEM
You can try to repair this file by starting Windows XP Setup
Re: Windows XP crashes with error message
I think you have some bad sectors on your hard drive. Just connect your hard drive on some other computer as slave try to repair the bad sectors with Windows "Error-checking" function. (My Computer -> Right click on "Local Drive" and select "Properties" -> go to "Tools")
