No display when installing Vista SP1
I just installed, for testing purposes, the latest version of SP1 RC but I have a big concern with this now. I installed the nvidia driver and reboot, no display, got the sound of logon but no picture, no signal screen which then goes into standby.
So I reboot in safe mode, I uninstalled the nvidia driver, reboot in normal mode, the it works, but vista automatically installs its own KDE provided, and requires a reboot. But on reboot still the same, no display as if the driver provided by windows. Now I can not access Vista even in Safe Mode.
So I reinstalled everything, Vista SP1 including nvidia drivers provided in Windows Update, and everything works. I installed the nvidia driver (from nvidia site), the installation goes well, I reboot, and the same no display again.
Please explain me this. Also provide me some solutions to this.
Re: No display when installing Vista SP1
Sorry to contradict you, but your problem must be lying somewhere else. Because, in my opinion, with all nVidia cards and all the latest drivers, the only problem of black screen appears when we return to the Windows desktop after a session of video game online or offline. However, this problem was known and a patch from Windows update fully resolved this bug.

I had the same problem some days ago. I changed my graphics card, I went with the 7900GS, and now it works very well.
