Error : The event log is full
The program installed and worked fine a few times in Outlook 2003. Now however, everytime I start Outlook I get a dialog box that has "Kayxo Insight" in the title bar and "The event log file is full" in the message area.
When I go to the Calendars are and check the "Calendar in KiGoo", I now get the Outlook message, "could not read the calendar. DataSource raises and Exception. Please check Event Log for more detailed information."
Unfortunately, I don't know where to find the Event Log; I'll send more details if someone can tell me where to find then.
Thanks.
Re: Error : The event log is full
under Windows Vista or XP go to "Start menu" then to "All Programs" and finally to "Administrative Tools" there you will find the event viewer, once inside the event viewer, go to the "Aplication" node, and there open the event related to the KiGoo application and post here the error, so we can try to solve your problem.

Fixing "The Event Log is Full" Error on Windows XP
Increasing Event Log Size
- Open up Event Viewer by typing in eventvwr into the Start \ Run box, or you can find it under Administrative tools section of Control Panel.
- You'll notice over on the right-hand side of the window that the current size of my Application and System Event Logs are 512 KB…
- Now you can right-click on one of the Event Logs in the list, and choose Properties from the menu.
- In this dialog you can do a number of things… you could clear the log, increase the size, or just set the system to overwrite events as needed.
- I chose to increase the maximum size of the event log, and then also to overwrite events as needed.
- For those of you using Windows Vista, you'll notice that the default settings in Vista are to overwrite as needed, and the maximum size is way bigger. Guess my setting choices make sense then…
- Again, if your Application or System event logs are growing so gigantic that you are getting this error, you should really look into the root cause by carefully examining the entries in the logs.
Note: If your event log is so huge within 7 days that you are getting this error, there's probably something seriously wrong. You should inspect your event log to understand what is causing all of the errors… more on that in a future article.
Re: Error : The event log is full
the application log gets written in windows event log which can be seen in control panel ->Administrative tools->event viewer. Check if your application log is full.
for this you can write overridder.. which will check if log is full.. then it will remove 1 entry from last ...
so you will never get this error..
Re: Error : The event log is full
hi
I also have similar kind of problem, where should i write override in code ?
Re: Error : The event log is full
There are three built-in event logs, Application, System and Security. The default size of these logs is quite small and needs to be increased to at least 4,096 K. Also the action on reaching maximum size needs to be considered. Generally event logs should be set to over-write as required. The other settings should only be used if there software such as Microsoft Operations Manager to monitor the size of the logs and to regularly move logs to a central area; such software will never allow the logs to be full.
There is a very strong argument for using custom event logs for various applications - you can find such a utility for creating them in the CommonData project on codeplex.com
