Hi, If you could tell the name of the operating system then my answers could have been more precise. but if you are using windows xp sp2 then An update is available to resolve this issue. 883543 . The S/MIME control does not load in OWA when you are running the Exchange Server 2003 OWA client on a Windows XP Service Pack 2-based computer
Note After you install the Exchange hotfix mentioned in article 883543, you must download the updated S/MIME control on the Windows XP SP2 computer. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Log on to Outlook Web Access.
2. In the lower right pane, click Options.
3. In the E-mail Security area, click Download.
