Increasing the overall performance of Windows
This trick will increase the overall performance of Windows in current use. However, it requires intervention in the registry. If you are not familiar with it, make very careful what you do. Broadly speaking, consider saving the registry before making Changes.
Click Start, Run and type regedit and then go to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SYSTEM / CurrentControlSet / Control / Session Manager / Memory Management.
Change (or create via a right click => New => DWORD Value) DWORD value named IoPageLockLimit and set it to hexadecimal equivalent to the amount of RAM installed on your PC:
- 128 MB of RAM: 0001C000
- 256 MB of RAM: 0003C000
- 384 MB of RAM: 0005C000
- 512 MB of RAM: 00070000
- 1024 MB of RAM and over: 000F0000
Note: Backup the registry before making changes.
