Intel Bios cannot Read kingston Ram Correctly
I just installed 2 Sticks of 400MHz SDRAM memory on my old PC that is equipped with a Intel D865GLC. The problem is that the BIOS does not recognize memory (Kingston KVR400X64C3A/512) a 400 MHz . I mean it recognized it But as a 266 Mhz .but if I force and speed to 400 and restaert the i get a boot my error message:
SERIAL PRESENCE DETECT (SPD) missing or inconclusive data .....
After a little research it seems that when memory is faulty as it has this message. I clean contact with the RAM with an eraser .. nothing ChangesHere I think my 2 Stick defective! Really no luck! But yet I downloaded CPU-Z that can read the module SPD on memory. And, surprise I can read the interface CPU-Z: Frequency 166MHz (column 1) 200MHz (column 2).I must also say that the choice of RAM is made after I consult the Intel site and check the compatibility (there say they have tested the motherboard with RAM).
You have a solution?

hello
your motherboard recognizes the Ram but it turns too fast then the motherboard it runs to 266 your memory it is logical that everything has the same speed I think!

I think I finally understood what happens. Or my motherboard supports 400MHz but my DIMMs slots requires a 400MHz FSB of 800MHz. my Motherboard has a 400MHz FSB only so as you said in your post precedent it strangles the RAM. It is about the same stupid compatibility problem from Intel memory PC3200 then it can not use them fully! Finally, ultimately I got to know something new!
thank you
