Blank Screen after Windows XP splash screen (IBM T60 Laptop) - how to diagnose?

I am using IBM T60 laptop and all of a sudden after the Windows splash screen showed up, instead of giving me the login page it switches off the screen completely and also it will remain blank forever. Sometimes I will get to the login screen. This laptop has AHCI hard drive controller, that can be switched off to compatability mode but in this same mode, black screen do not show up. Even though the laptop was using that AHCI for many months. Can anyone tell me a solution for this problem? Thanks.

You can try to press F8 at boot and then just after the bios screen you will get the safe mode menu along with the option to create a '%windir%/ntbtlog.txt' bootlog file. Also check the Windows XP Recovery Console from here - http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;314058
