Mandriva - Text Mode

For personal or professional, you may need to use Mandriva in text mode. But you do not see the install option.

The solution

It's very simple. Upon installation, you will after Partitioning Install section. This is where you choose your graphical environment and your groups of packages. Yes, but you, you do not want GUI, precisely!
Do not panic, it's still here it goes:

1 - Go to Custom.
2 - Choose your package groups. If you do not know too much, let those selected.
3 - Uncheck all graphical environments that are at the bottom of the window.
4 - Start the installation ;-)

At a facility without mandriva graphical interface, the installation manager will report to step Summary. It will display "Not configured". This is normal, since you want the text mode, without interface. Your Grub will also be in text mode.

Arrival console

It may also need to graphical environment from time to time. At that time, I suggest the arrival console. You'll have a graphical interface that you normally selected during the installation, and the display, you only have to type the command startx.

It's simple. In graphical mode, go to the Mandriva Control Center (MCC command in a console). Then go to the Start, then click Configure automatic connection. Just uncheck Run GUI at startup and validation.
