Debian or Kubuntu, for a laptop?

Then Kubuntu (or Ubuntu) is more for beginners (it is still based on Debian and resumed such packages. Deb and the famous apt - get (or aptitude for perfectionists tongue ).In short it is a very good distribution but also for me it is not a symbol of stability although it is still nothing compared to Debian

For my part, I started with Ubuntu and others I advise anyone who want to start entering in the free world to begin with Ubuntu (or ubuntu). Kubuntu is based on Debian packages therefore it is the same.
Kubuntu to a more obvious and intuitive, untilise KDE rather than Gnome in Ubuntu.
For power management is such drivers if they exist will be usable with debian and ubuntu.
