4 GB Ram shown as 3070 MB
Specifically, I had a Vista Home Premium, which would show 4.00 GB of RAM on the notebook but it broke down when I installed Vista Home Premium, which now shows 3070 MB of RAM. The surprising part is that where 1 GB of RAM gone? Can you tell me how i can get back to show it 4.00 GB?

I suppose your windows is 32 bit version which might be a reason.

I think you should put Service Pack 1, I have read that it resolved the problem of memory for Vista.

Yes my Windows Vista is 32 bit.
Re: 4 GB Ram shown as 3070 MB
The problem is that 64 bit Windows supports 4gb of RAM and 32 bit 3GB of RAM. If you have Vista SP1 this would help you to be that 32-bit recognize all 4GB Ram.
Re: 4 GB Ram shown as 3070 MB
After installing SP1 for this 32 bit, such as those already suggested above, the only changes that will happen is that Vista will show that you have 4GB of RAM, but it will, as well as without SP1 exploit only 3GB, just as it is showing now and so far using only 3GB, even though it is written that you have 4GB.
If you want to use all 4GB of RAM, you will need to install 64 bit Vista.
