share a laptop to a desktop
Hello guys!
i have a dell latitude D630 C with windows vista loaded laptop.
I am having a desktop with Windows XP and Intel motherboard assembeled desktop.
It has 2 gb ram and the laptop has also the same.
I am a newbie and I am intrested in sharing these two systems.
I bought a router and connected and it would not work.
What else settings to I make .
please provide me a tip.

you should have same operating system on both

You can share easily in-between Vista & XP.
Why you are connecting router? you can directly connect both by Cross Cable.
All you need to do is to Share the folders which you want to share between both the systems.

U dont need router for this..........
U need one Cross-Over-Cable to connect the 2 systems.
1. Connect two systems with cross cable
2. Network IP address configuration has to be done
3. The both IP address on the systems should be in same subnet
4. try to ping both systems
5. now share the required folders with sufficient privilages
6. Try to access that shared folders from other system.
