Script for Ubuntu
I am given responsibility for a school's network, where we have a few Ubuntu machines, representing a server and some engineer has been given the task to run a script to the network to work, but the person who set up the network have not proven anything, so I appreciate nothing about. What to do ?

Re: Script for Ubuntu
I just say Good Luck !
Have even tried to take over a sinking shot, and it is not at all fun when there is no evidence of the story.
I do not know the script you are looking for, but if you have a near head, then it will be her / his responsibility to manage the documentation

Re: Script for Ubuntu
Ubuntu Linux has some good log facilities
try and check if you can find some of the old logs
"maybe" you can find a sign saying something about the script
just a proposal

Re: Script for Ubuntu
Alternatively, if you have the previous administrator login you can log in and browse through the history of command until you find something that seems to have to do with it.
But it depends of course, that not too long ago that the script has been run.
Good luck.

Re: Script for Ubuntu
I just remember that you can put a network in many ways,
- Works on Ubuntu server as a gateway?
- It is a script to be run on the server so that the network will start running?
- It is a script to be run on individual machines to access network
- It is a local area which will be started or is it access to the Internet?
If (1) in force, you must ensure that DHCP is enabled on this and it is the only DHCP server on the network that clients have access to, it is at least important to be able to respond to points (2 & 3) yes and point (4).
Another option is to simply get on the phone number for the old manager and contact him if he was not fired and hence is negative over to help, then I think you are most easily to get the right answer and the best means :D
