Problem installing ubuntu
Hi Everyone,
I just installed ubuntu 8.04 through windows (my goal was to test, I do not know if I finally intends to use linux). The installation went smoothly, but when I restarted my machine, after selecting ubuntu, a loading bar was displayed for a few seconds, then a console appeared with the message
Quote:
BusyBox v1.1.3 (Debian 1:1.1.3-5ubuntu12) Built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands
If I press entrance, a line beginning with "(initramfs)" is added.
What to do to access the graphics mode?
thank you in advance.
Re: Problem installing ubuntu
You installed from the Live CD? If so, does the graphical environment worked well under the Live CD? What graphics card? When you start after initramfs and Co., is what we ask you to log you in line? If so, are you able to log you on the command line with your account created during installation? If you succeed you log in, try the command sudo startx and tell us what happens.
Re: Problem installing ubuntu
I installed from the live CD and it worked properly in live CD. I have a GeForce 6600. I have nothing after initramfs, it is no wonder to me logger.
Re: Problem installing ubuntu
Basically, after the initramfs, nothing happens? The screen shows nothing and you can not do anything?
I searched on google "initramfs", and it seems that you are not alone in this error after installation. Since this is a new installation, why do you reinstall just not Ubuntu see if it solves the problem? Otherwise, you could always add "debug" the parameters of the kernel when it starts and remove "quiet splash", for a start a little more verbose that we would say more about your problem.
In fact, when you speak to install through Windows, you use Wubi? If yes, have you FAT32 partition? If so, this may be the problem. It seems that the NTFS work better in this case, you can always try.
