hp 6730s webcam driver freezes xp
hi,
i have a hp6730s laptop with a built-in webcam (chicony). the webcam driver is causing windows xp to freeze indefinitely at shut down (or standby, or restart). uninstalling the driver solves the problem, but windows automatically reinstalls it at startup. you see my problem.
is there any way to make windows not detect/reinstall driver for the built-in webcam?
thanks,
fff

But Win XP has hardware profile problems...
And for example I had a lot problem with my 6730s FAN, after I back/recovery Windows Vista the problem was solved!
Re: hp 6730s webcam driver freezes xp
Contact HP and report this problem to them.
For instance, try uninstalling and reinstalling the latest drivers for the webcam that are XP supported. Get latest drivers from the official website if they are available there. Or get them here if you find one of your need Chicony Web Cam, Webcam driver download.

thats what i did. the problematic driver is the official xp driver from the hp website. not working.
right now i just want xp not to detect the device after i uninstall it, but i dont know how to do that--after i remove the device from device manager, it gets reinstalled at startup. any ideas in that direction?
i'll check out the link you suggest and see if that works,
thanks
