HDMI port on a laptop

could you tell me if the HDMI port on a laptop computer transmits the video stream but also the audio stream?

On laptops with ATI graphics chip HD is sure that, yes, on the other I do not know but I think that's the case (or I do not see too much interest HDMI)

So for the HD3470 and HD3450, there are sound and image.
But what about the 8400M, 920M and Nvidia 9300m and X3100 and X4500 Intel?

For NVIDIA I think yes, the 9600M GT my hp made the video and sound. I agree with Almalexia out on a laptop, an HDMI port that does not have its fate is useless ...:/

I think all are sound. It seems to me that ATI was forced to put on these audio chips radeon equipped with HDMI port precisely because of that.
