Accessing Ghosted HDD
Hi
I'm running XP Home edition on my laptop.
I have bought a new HDD. My old HDD was fitted into an external USB caddy.
Windows not allowing me access the old drive - it allows me to access the root and windows directories but not my old drives personal folders like Documents and Settings folder.
I have the administration password for the windows XP on the old HDD, is there any way to access the data and copy it?

Boot into safe mode in XP and log in as a Administrator.
When you'll log in as a Administrator then You should be able to take ownership of the folders and then be able to access the folders. To take the ownership folllow the following procedure:
Right click on the root folder, go to Security -> Advanced, then the Owner tab. Then click on the new Admin as the owner, then check "Replace owner in subcontainers and objects" then click OK.
After changing ownership you can copy them. Try this trick it should work.
