restore default security permissions in windows vista?
Hi, this is Windows Vista system. I am trying to make notepad++ as the default notepad program but due to some permission reasons, i am not able to do the same. I tried changing the settings so that any user listed had full control over my PC. Now I want to change them back & only allow the administrator to have full access. How do I do this please? I have no idea how to do the same. Hope someone here can help me out with this. Thanks.
RE: restore default security permissions in windows vista?
There is a tool called ICACLS which can help you to easily reset the permission. It is a command-line tool that displays or modifies discretionary access control lists (DACLs) on specified files, and applies stored DACLs to files in specified directories.
