Removing domain from logon box of Windows XP clients
I need some help here. I am working on external trust. There is a development domain which is created and I am able to access it through internal network. The domain is visible. But somehow when I try to access the same using a different network it looks that it is blocked by the firewall. The same works fine internally and while accessing it through some external sources there is a problem with the connection. Now just want to remove that from all client pc.
Re: Removing domain from logon box of Windows XP clients
For that first thing you have to do is configure the client properties. You will have to remove the client from the existing domain by modifying the workgroup and then adding them back on any other existing network.

Hi mayurgandhi1988,
If I understand your question properly then you can forcefully demote this DC, which should allow you to remove the child domain. You will need to be running SP3 and the hotfix Q332199 or SP4 in order to perform this task. Here is an article that will walk you through forcefully demoting the DC: 332199. Using the DCPROMO /FORCEREMOVAL Command to Force the Demotion of Active - http://support.microsoft.com/?id=332199
