I want to know a way to setup an ad-hoc network on my computer so that I can share its internet connection. The setup proceeds for sometimes and then I will get an error message that states "Windows could not set up <name of network>". I have also tried many different security details but nothing seems to be working. Can anyone help? Thanks.
Can you recheck the procedure for ICS Internet Connection Sharing because computers should be members of the same workgroup, which should be default to MSHOME.
I didnt get to the ICS stage, it's the set-up of the ad-hoc network that causes problems. Similarly, the workgroup is not the issue, it's not a problem connecting to the network, it's a problem with creating the network. Also, the default is WORKGROUP, not MSHOME. Thanks for the reply.
Could you tell us whether this is vista to vista, wired or wireless, can you give us some more details that will be able to know how we can help you.
turn on your wireless signal switch , im using dell inspiron . .my wireless signal switch (correct me if im wrong with my term here) is at located at my function keys, anyway. .just make sure u switch it on before you create a Ad hoc connection . .im facing the same problem before, and this is the way i fix it . .hope it would help,
