Go to Settings/Wifi/Turn On.It will automatically detects my wireless network and the check mark appears. But no connection to the internet yet.then turn off Wifi. Wait a few seconds .now turn on Wifi.Open any applications that requires internet such as Mail, Safari, etc.You now have internet connectivity.
I have to do the same thing with my 2nd gen iPod Touch with firmware 2.1.1
I have exchanged it three times and have the same problem.
I had a 1st gen iPod Touch and never had this problem.
I sure hope Apple fixes this in the next firmare release. For now I can live with the two step process.
Re: ipod 2G touch WiFi connection problem
the issue im having is similar but has another angle to it. this just started maybe 3 weeks ago. at my one job there are 3 networks i can use. i havent been able to use any of them. just like everyone else its saying it connects but doesnt. the weird thing is i NEVER turn my wifi off EVER. i doo quick things during work so battery level is a non issue. my touch is turning its wifi off on its one. at first i thought it may have been one of those flukes where u slide it in your pocket & are inadvertently typing just by moving or sitting. it isnt. i was being careful & not putting it in my pocket & laying it on a flat surface. ive tried the cold boots everything. doesnt help or change anything. and i realized tonite, when i get home, where it normally just connects to my home network when in range it doesnt even though it says it is. that is the only time booting is effective. so why is it turning the wifi off on its own?
Re: ipod 2G touch WiFi connection problem
First, goto Settings, then WiFi and turn WiFi ON. Check the name of your ssid(wireless name) on your router to ensure you are connecting to YOUR wireless connection.
Before this, you'll need to check whether your connection is secured or not. If there is a LOCK image that means your connection is secured. At this point you want to get that WEP or WAP key from your wireless router.
Now, for connecting your wireless network with Ipod Touch. If asked for password, enter your WEP or WAP key and click on Join button. Wait for few moments and then test if you are connected.
Test this with your safari browser.
Re: ipod 2G touch WiFi connection problem
this is just at work. and eh hem....i never said it was MY router. random open ones as well as the work one. i have basically pimped off the apartment above us for 4 months. i cracked the password at work since theyre those ididots with obvious passwords...one step above "lynksis" so all that is info i dont have access to. its not the network, its definitely my touch. and only there. any other time, its seamless.
Re: ipod 2G touch WiFi connection problem
Are you using WPA encryption? There is a known problem with the 2g with WPA. If not try canceling the connection with your home wifi then try connecting again, turn the wifi off, then back on and try connecting once again, this cycle should help you to get the connection.
Re: ipod 2G touch WiFi connection problem
the issue at home is easily handled & only after i work at that job. id like to stop it from turning the wifi off its self at work.
Re: ipod 2G touch WiFi connection problem
On your Ipod go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Hope This work out .
