hi,guys i am manoj i had purchased the windows xp home edition and it was installed by the retail shop where i purchased ,and the cd key sticker which will be on the cd case was sticked on to my cpu unfortunately the sticker was torn and lost i noticed when i was about to format my system,i even contacted the retail shop where i purchased it....its of no use they are saying its not possible..is there any way to get the cd key back or can i exchange my software...plz help me...
Call up Microsoft.com and they will issue u a new product key
Find Windows XP Product Key from the Windows XP CD:
1) Insert Windows XP cd into a working computer.
2) Exit the Autorun introduction.
3) Open "My Computer"
4) Right Click on the Windows XP cd-rom drive and select explore.
5) Open the USWXP32P_ZX folder.
6) Open the sysprep folder.
7) Open unattend.txt
Your CD's product key is contained within the unattend.txt file.
Note: On some system disks, USWXP32P_ZX is a hidden folder. If you cannot locate the folder, you may also search for unattend.txt and mark "Search Hidden Files".
This should work on Microsoft Windows XP Home, Windows XP Professional, and OEM versions of Windows XP from restore disks.

i have called microsoft they r sayin to send the purchase proof and cd cover scan copies..i have posted them...now i have to wait for their reply
