Turn off system restore, to remove W32.Silly

My windows Xp laptop has somehow got infected with a Virus named “W32.Silly”. Though I scanned with Antivirus it is not able to delete it. So I thought to remove it by restoring the system to earlier restore point. But when I click My computer Properties > System restore it gives me error message something saying like Unable to locate file etc. I don’t remember the error properly.

So I request you guys to please let me know how can I get rid of this virus and access my system restore? Thank you.

Just tryout these steps. It has helped me many times I hope will work for you as well.

• Go to Start > Control Panel > Double click Network and Internet Connections > Double click Internet Options.
• Now click on General Tab under IE properties windows and clear your History, Internet Files and Cookies.
• Now go to Advanced tab and scroll down to under the Browsing Option.
• You will see a box here for “Enable Third-Party browser extensions”, just uncheck this box.
• Now click on Programs Tab and click Manage Add-Ons and Disable all non Verified Add-Ons.

After doing all these things, run an online scan from this URL:
