Friends I've seen some menus with animations, where I have seen photographs or images of good quality, but I notice that you have Transparent background, as the animations go through the back without losing quality. No photos are cut to the square or delineated by anyone, but still does not have transparent background for jpg....program that makes it.
Photoshop fireworks or you can try png format for example. But I think the gifs that allow transparencies.
The formats that support the transparent background to the Web are GIF and PNG. Like I have said before Photoshop is an excellent program for creating GIF, or PNG, as long as you choose either the background color, so that the edges of the image does not highlight.
