How to find location of chat friend?

if u want to know the location (ip address u mean) , then try this
download active ports (http://www.webattack.com/get/activeports.shtml)

open the software after installing

now start chatting with your friend . send him a file and ask him to accept it ..
now during that transferring , check active ports and you should see a green bar against the yahoo messenger related exe files. check the remote IP in it.
