Want to give a boost to my connection

I am using a Netgear router along wit ha D-Link modem. I am running Windows XP Pro. What I want to ask is that is it possible to have a network connection with one cable to send the packets and the second cable to receive the packets. I am asking this because I want to boost up my connection to maximum possible level.

Are you kidding? You want two cables, one to send and another to receive :P. As far as my knowledge it is not at all possible.

However, if that is possible then you might mess up your router and also your NIC card.

You can use Full Duplex Mode in order to give a boost to your network connection. It will increase your throughput and speedup your net connection.
