Robocopy.exe does not copy network share properties
There is a previous topic on this question (http://forums.techarena.in/windows-s...elp/754085.htm ), but there aren't any good solutions so I thought I would give it another try.
The previous post mentions exporting the 'shares' registry key but I would need to modify the drive letter and that appears to be quite difficult.
If there any other tool out there?
Its a shame because I really like robocopy, its just missing one very important function.
Re: Robocopy.exe does not copy network share properties
Export this key from the registry the path hklm/system/currentcontrolset/services/lanmanserver/shares
to a file and import it on the new server. Then you can change in the registry
the drive letter.
Re: Robocopy.exe does not copy network share properties
I am in a similar situation. I need to migrate hundreds of shares to a new
server. The old server is Windows 2000 and the new server is Windows Server
2003 SP2. In order to migrate shares and share permissions, I would like to
export / import hklm/system/currentcontrolset/services/lanmanserver/shares
Will this work - exporting the shares key from a W2K server and importing it
to a W2K3 Server?
Re: Robocopy.exe does not copy network share properties
I just recently made some very good experiences with Sys-Manage CopyRight2. Tried it while it still was under beta and it was very easy and transfered all the shares with the permissions including NTFS file and folder permissions. They have some videos you can watch about how it works...
This software can even preserve user passwords while migrating the accounts.
