Black screen - blue screen after linux installation

Hi..
This is Ekavir, m a newbie with linux. i installed linux openSUSE worked fine but after some restarts & boot up instead of login screen it gives me black screen.
F1, Ctrl+Alt+F1 etc wer not working. I reinstalled suse but this time same thing happened the only change was blue screen not the black screen. I tried "failsafe" and running INIT 3 from there because i cant do that by booting up normally since i get the blue screen and keyboard keys dont work. Is it something to do with X configuration?
Please help.

Where you adjusting the video settings or editing some config files?

Yes, i have both windows and linux and i had the bootloader from suse installed. Windows was gone bad. So i took data on DVD's with suse. Then formatted the windows partition. On boot i found bootloader gone & no choice to choose an OS. XP loaded automatically, may be it installed it's bootloader.Then i inserted suse DVD & installed it again to get its choice with bootloader with rescue option. Here i started to get the blue screen.

I know that if you were installing them on the same hard-drive, you'd have to make sure to install windows first else it would destroy your Linux partition.
