Reinstall Android OS on my tablet.
I have an "ePad". It is basically a knock off iPad (Who can beat a tablet for $100 bucks that is bigger than an iPad!?). On it is a copy of Android 2.1. I recently corrupted it somehow (I assume, don't ask me how). It loads to a loading screen and just sits there and loads forever. I normally have to take a pin to press the small reset button or just let it die.
I need to find out a way to reinstall the AOS on it. The device isn't a "common device" (it was bought while on a trip to China =P), it has just recently gained some popularity (last time I google searched it, I got very few results, most not even pertaining to the ePad).
The device has lots of ports including a MicroSD reader, an adapter slot so I can connect it to my network (and later the internet) via LAN. It also has a USB slot on the side (so I can stick my USB stick in and open files).
Because it is such an uncommon device, I can't find anything about installing anything new on it. How would I go about this?
Thanks if you can help! :ohyeah:
You can see the device here:
http://www.amazon.com/Zenithink-Touc.../dp/B0041FFJQA
I only paid $100 for it though :)

Re: Reinstall Android OS on my tablet.
I think that it is a china based tablet and therfore it is not possible to reinstall the Android OS in it again; not with your skill level at least. Return it and ask for an Android version. You would require your firmware version so that you will be able to flash your tablet to the android version, then you will have to connect your tablet to the computer and install usb driver and many much things, this is just a brief idea that I am giving you.

Re: Reinstall Android OS on my tablet.
Hi
I got an Android based tablet like yours from eBay.
I made a mistake and did a factory restore but not all the apps came back. I did this by pressing and holding the power button for 15 seconds or more.
However i now want to reload the complete 2.2 o/s. I am quite technical (on PCs at least) and wondered if you got an answer yet?
Can anyone help me? How do i reload the O/S? I can do a windows system standing on my head !!! What about Androids?
thanks

Re: Reinstall Android OS on my tablet.
what model # on bar code?
if it starts with zt
go to Zenithink.com (not the usa one)
go to firmware and find your model # and download it.
if ur epad has a tf (micro sd) slot, unzip the firmware you downloaded and put the files on the sd card. ( mine had 8 files, boot logo, system.tar, usr.tar and zlmage. zimage adb. zimagefactory. zimage ums. zimage update.)
put the card in the epad (epad off)
power epad on while holding the button on the side (the one big button on the face of the screen) hold until the epad finds zimage update .
let go. watch it flash for about 5-8 minutes. it will reboot when your done.
(you can install windows ce as well as android 2.2 with this method)
I have zt-180 10" 512mb 4g android 2.2. with custom roms. flash player too!

Re: Reinstall Android OS on my tablet.
I have problem with android tablet 2.2 after i did factory reset , when make it on the screen give me android sign and no more control , even i can't put it off unless to use the Pin hole to reset , can you help me ?
thanks

Re: Reinstall Android OS on my tablet.
sounds like you may need to "FLASH" your phone. is it a Zenithink epad...you can tell by the model number. check out Zenithink.com and see if your tablet is there. download the right software.
or tell me your model number and ill help you get it running again.
my option is the reset button is useless unless your tablet freezes and you can't pop out the battery so next best thing is the reset button. ( never froze yet)

Re: Reinstall Android OS on my tablet.
great! if your sure that's your tablet...and not just on that looks like it then download the firmware for it.
install like previous post.
here is the rom you need
this isn't free! ill keep looking for one that's free
store.payloadz.com/details/911419-software-developer-freescale-imx515-android-2.2-release-fr809-fs-805-no-screws-2-side-speakers-.html
google fr809 roms. or imc515. rom to see if there are free ones.
once u have the firmware follow instructions. or ask here!
good luck. it may take time but its worth it to say you did it yourself!

Re: Reinstall Android OS on my tablet.
Try the below steps to install android in your tablet:
1. Insert a standard SD card into your computer’s media reader.
2. Download this file and save it to the root of the SD card, not in any folder.
3. Do not extract the contents of the ZIP file, leave it as a ZIP archive.
4. Do not rename the file. Do not allow your browser to change the name of the file. If necessary, change it back.
5. With the Tablet powered off, press and hold the volume up button (keep holding), then press and hold the power button at the same time.
6. Keep holding both buttons, the screen will read he Tablet first, and then the Android robot and software package icons will appear on the screen with a progress bar.
7. You may now release the buttons and allow the process to complete.
8. When done, the tablet load will reappear and the unit should then load normally.

I havent heard about the android model tablet that you have specified and on which you want to install the android 2.2 OS. But if you can search for the terms "install android 2.2 on tablet" on google or any other search engine then perhaps you will get some search results and tips on how to reinstall android 2.2 on your tablet.

Hello :)
I have a Telefunken TPAD-7A3GEA and I was wondering if this file will work on my tablet as well?
My tablet doesn't seem to install all files properly (apps etc) and I often get error messages.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks in advance :D

Well the process of reinstalling the OS is the same as mentioned above. But as you said you are getting error while doing the same, you should mention the error here. Post the exact error you getting so that i can get some info for the same.

Thanks for the quick reply :)
I haven't actually tried to reinstall the software on my tablet, because I wasnt sure if I could use the software from that link - everyone else was giving specific models, specific software to install. Is it safe to try install the software onto my tablet?
There is going to be one problem before I even attempt to install the software - "Step 5: With the Tablet powered off, press and hold the volume up button (keep holding), then press and hold the power button at the same time." my tablet doesn't have a volume up button on the outside, only onscreen when the tablet is on. What should I do in this case?
The error messages are when I try open installed apps on the tablet, they either say they can't open and I should try again later, but that never works or they start opening and then just close.
Thanks again :)

Re: Reinstall Android OS on my tablet.
First of all, i would like to know Which tab do you own ?? Is it having android pre-installed ?
As you said earlier "My tablet doesn't seem to install all files properly" and now "my tablet doesn't have a volume up button on the outside, only onscreen when the tablet is on." I guess your tab is not compatible with Android.

Re: Reinstall Android OS on my tablet.
I have a Telefunken TPAD-7A3GEA and it came with android pre-installed.
I must be honest, I have no idea if it's compatible with android or not, but it came with it, so I guess it should be?
This link has all of it's specs etc

What I have heard is that Telefunken TPAD-7A3GEA is a rebranded tablet from fly vision and it has got very limited support, so it could be possible that upgrading, rooting on the tablet gives you frequent error messages. This are normally 2nd copy china made tablets, and hence it has got bad support for anything.

Re: Reinstall Android OS on my tablet.
I am in a similar situation. Being unhappy with the amount of selection at the big box shops I bought a tablet online. It is from China. It just doesn't work right and I did a reboot which put it back to all chinese language, which I was able to get it back to english, but some things won't work right. Especially the contacts. It will list it in the app manager as a app on the tablet, but it will not run. I tried syncing it with my gmail account hoping that would help. It seemed to synch, but still the application will not run.
Can I just wipe it, reinstall the android OS and start fresh. I am stuck with this thing and I want to make it work, just to learn more.
here are the specs:

Re: Reinstall Android OS on my tablet.
Creativeguy,
It is not easy to modify the version of the android or reinstalling the operating system for android. There are very manual procedures that include, downloading correct firmwares and then flashing the same in your android tablet, if it is not done correctly then you may end up with a non-working tablet at all. And since its china tablet, i would not try it, as it lacks software kind of supports.

Since you have mentioned that the tablet is not booting, i just wanted to know that are you having issues in booting or the tablet is just not turning on, if it is not turning on then how will you reinstall the operating system?? i think that you should better visit the service center as you have tried out the hard reset method already. there are possibilities that there might be some kind of hardware issues that might have taken place without your knowledge.

Can you try to do a factory reset by following the below steps and see if that helps you out:
- First of all you need to turn OFF the device
- After that just make sure its turned OFF
- Now, you have to press and hold simultaneously POWER, BACK (return) and HOME buttons
- Afterwards when the device turns on with COBY logo, keep pressing the above keys
- After that the display asks to press the keys, after about 10 to 15 seconds, again within 5 secs to factory reset the device.
- Now you just have to leave the power button now while still pressing HOME and BACK keys
- If everything is done properly then factory reset will be started.

Re: Reinstall Android OS on my tablet.
Hi Pugsly!
I followed ur Instructions, but i am bit confused, as i was pressing the keys u have told me for 15 seconds it shows "unexpected updater mode! please reboot your device"? is this what you actually meant on 5th point(after that display asks to press the keys.....)? as i mentioned earlier that this tablet has a hard reset button on the back side but it doesnt work! i think it has other ways of resetting this damn tablet :(

I dont think that you are following the buttons properly, you still aint pressing the back button, hence getting the error, its actually HOME+BACK+POWER all three buttons together, and untill the coby screen changes to reset request, you can do one thing by asking someone to press the power button while you press the front 2 buttons, untill the coby logo display changes after 15 to 20 seconds.

Well, the key combinations when pressed together definitely works, check if any one of the buttons are damagaed or not working well. Another way, is to have a kernel to repartition the partition table.

Hello Simond
Could you explain me how to do that? i mean the instructions & stuff! if u dont mind!
