Re: how to remove color from behind desktop icon text
I have tried many times to remove color from behind con text. The reason I posted again is that I have tried everything in those posts. I think that maybe my computer is loading a solid color background and then loading whatever background I choose on top of it. I am thinking this because when I change the background color on the display>background tab, that changes the color behind the icon text.

Re: how to remove color from behind desktop icon text
Guys I have my own Solution to this pretty problem :ohyeah:
follow the below lines
1) Right Click on your Desktop
2) Click on "Properties"
3) Goto "Desktop" tab
4) Click the "Customize Desktop" button
5) Goto "Web" tab
Here you will find a box having few files, they are nothin but the "background images of the fonts of icons", they are stored in the temp folder and are getting loaded everytime you start your windows  . Kindly Delete all EXCEPT THAT OF THE MY CURRENT HOME PAGE because that is of no harm.
6) Click OK and again OK and your are done :thumbup1:

You can display an HTML file as wallpaper when Active Desktop is enabled. The HTML page can be on your local computer or on a network drive, but it cannot point to a URL on your intranet or on the World Wide Web. You can save a file from the Internet or intranet to your hard disk drive by displaying the page in your browser, selecting Save As from the File menu, and saving it to your local hard disk drive.
To use an HTML file as the Active Desktop wallpaper
1.Right-click the desktop, and then click Properties .
2.On the Background tab, click Browse, and then navigate to the location of the HTML file you want to use.
Re: how to remove color from behind desktop icon text
Ok,
I have tried absolutely everything.
The only problem being, because I am on a work network I have no "web" tab to go to.
Is there any way to get rid of this problem without a "web' tab?
My network administrator has no idea how to get rid of it and cannot give me a "web' tab.

I have heard that a lot of bad malwares right now is going around and one of the major things it does is turn on active desktop and turn your desktop into a link to their fraudulent site. You don't have any weird things popping up and irritation you with things like "Your Infected" are you. Hopefully not but if you did'nt turn active desktop yourself, i'm not sure what else.
Re: how to remove color from behind desktop icon text
I am continuing to scan for Malware but got rid of the highlights by editing the registry.
@ HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
I created a new key NoActiveDesktop and set the value to 1,
restarted and they were gone.

Open the Control Panel.
Open the Display icon.
Click the Web tab in the Display Properties window.
If you wish to enable the Active Desktop, check the checkbox for "Show Web content on my Active Desktop" and select the home page you wish to use as the active desktop.
If you wish to disable Active Desktop, make sure that "Show Web content on my Active Desktop" is unchecked.
I just want to thank you for the help - it worked when nothing else did!
