Windows mail error 0x800CCC0F
Am facing an Error message as mentioned above in the title on my Windows Vista with both Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail. Earlier I was using just Windows Mail which was working fine but suddenly stopped sending or receiving mail. Tried many things but nothing helps.
So after getting frustrated, I download windows live mail. This also worked fine for a week and now it is also giving me the same error. I don’t know what is wrong with the system and how can I fix it. Hope any one of you guys can suggest me some working solution.
Here is the complete error message:
Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'XTRA', Server: 'pop3.xtra.co.nz', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F
Re: Windows mail error 0x800CCC0F
The problem seems to be with the SSL mail servers here but as Telnet has no feasible way of simulating the SSL handshake, you just cannot troubleshoot anything with these servers. But while searching for any kind of solution on the same I found that you can atleast go with Non SSL settings as an alternate. It is mentioned by your own service provider at this page. have a look.
Re: Windows mail error 0x800CCC0F
Using Telnet actually proves that there is no problem in connectivity between your system and the mail servers. But that is true that it has no SSL capabilities. But if we think about any third party programs here, I don’t think any of these security programs works well with SSL email.
